In our old server, which was a 400MHz tower with half a terabyte of hard drives stuffed in it, we had a spare PCI slot, with no cover panel at the back.
One day, the server crashed, and when trying to boot it up, it would just beep. So we took it apart, and we found mouse droppings, and mouse urine all over the back side of the motherboard.
A little bit of rubbing alcohol went a long way, and we were up and running again shortly. Not long after that, we put a filler plate in the spare PCI slot!
